Pressure can make us agree to more than we can manage. A pause might leave room for an honest answer: “I can finish this by five. If you need that too, which should come first?” That won’t guarantee a fair response or pay the bills.

We can care for our families and still set limits. When we lose our patience, we can make amends. None of that has to wait until life gets quieter.
